What a second-generation contractor already knows about your walls

Kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling are the two most requested jobs, both of them rooms where plumbing, electrical and finish work all have to land in the same footprint without anything getting in the way of anything else. Garage conversions turn unused square footage into real living space, and home additions add square footage outright.
An addition is a roof problem before it is anything else. It has to tie into the existing roof plane cleanly and shed water at that join, which is exactly where a badly executed addition starts leaking within a year or two. Having the roofer running the addition, rather than bringing one in afterward to patch the tie-in, is the advantage, not an afterthought.

How the job actually runs

One customer's job covered a new roof, gutters, aluminum siding, two new exterior doors, a repair, sheetrock crack repairs inside and the painting over them, all by the same crew. Another had a brick wall, new windows and a front storm door done and wrote that the crew cleaned up every day they were on site. That is what the work looks like in practice: one crew, start to finish, and a yard that does not look like a job site by the time they leave for the evening.
